Who is representing the OLY Canada community?
OLY CANADA COMMISSION
The OLY Canada Commission is made up of Team Canada Olympians who have retired from competition and are committed to representing the voices and interests of Canada’s Legacy Olympian community. The Commission works to empower both active and retired Olympians as ambassadors of the Olympic Movement. Through advocacy, engagement, and community-building initiatives, OLY Canada helps strengthen lifelong connections among Team Canada Olympians and encourages them to use their experiences and platform to create positive impact beyond sport. By fostering a united and engaged Olympian community, the Commission ensures that the values and spirit of Olympism continue to inspire and benefit Canadian society long after athletes leave the field of play.
COC Athletes’ Commission
The COC Athletes’ Commission and the OLY Canada Commission collaborate together to amplify Team Canada athlete voices and strengthen initiatives that support Team Canada Olympians throughout their whole athlete journey.
Recognition
OLY Canada Commission and the COC would like to recognize the work and time of three past members:
For years, Charmaine Crooks OLY and Chris Farstad OLY, have worked tirelessly to build the Canadian Olympians’ network. They have dedicated their ideas and time to these efforts, from the very first reunions to the formalization of the commission in 2019. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to these two trailblazers for everything they’ve done to lay the foundation for a successful OLY Canada Commission.” Claire Carver-Dias OLY, OLY Canada Commission member and EXCO Americas Representative. A special thank you to OLY CANADA identity creators – 2008 Olympians Olya Ovtchinnikova OLY (past member of the OLY Canada Commission and former COC Staff) & Marie-Eve Marleau OLY (former COC Staff)
